During WWII, pipers were used by the 51st British Highland Division in the Second Battle of El Alamein in 1943. Their role was to identify their regiments in darkness by playing tunes. Though successful for the Allies, the battle took the lives of many pipers, so bagpipes have not been used on the front lines since.
This kit represents three British infantrymen of WWII and a Scottish piper. Each infantryman is equipped with two ammo pouches, a small digging tool, respirator, spade and No. 4 rifle. Additionally, one of them has a pick. The piper's equipment includes a bagpipe, sporran, pistol holster and respirator.

The kit represents three Soviet military men taking aim at two German soldiers. 22 June 1941 marked the beginning of the Great Patriotic War when the Nazi troops and German allied forces invaded the Soviet Union. The invasion was also called "Operation Barbarossa" named after the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I who was nicknamed "Barbarossa" because of his red beard (in Italian: barba, "beard", and rossa, "red").
Even though the Red Army suffered significant losses at the beginning of the War, Operation Barbarossa is often called the biggest Hitler's failure because it eventually led to the crushing defeat of the Nazis and collapse of the Third Reich in 1945.

After the “D-Day” landings on June 6th 1944, the bridgehead slowly expanded westward through the Cotentin Peninsula towards the seaport of Cherbourg, and east towards the port of Caen. The piecemeal battles through the Norman hedgerows took a heavy toll on the Allied Forces. On July 19th 1944, the Second British Army occupied Caen after taking 3600 casualties and losing 469 tanks in three days of fighting.
This kit includes the figures of 4 British Commandos from different branches of the armed forces. It should be noted that this kit is designed so that it can be used together with kit MB 3517 “German Captives”, which allows the creation of an impressive diorama.

The National Liberation Front which fought the United States and South Vietnamese governments during the Vietnam War was called the Viet Cong by Western sources. The term Viet Cong is a contraction of Viet Nam Cong-san - 'Vietnamese communist'. American soldiers referred to the Viet Cong as Victor Charlie or V-C ('Victor' and 'Charlie' are letters in the NATO phonetic alphabet), and the term 'Charlie' was used to refer to communist forces in general.

This kit represents a German checkpoint somewhere in the Eastern Europe. Feldgendarmerie is checking the documents of three civilans - two adults and a child. The sign on the boom barrier says "Stop! Checkpont!" in two languages.
The kit includes parts for the assembly of six figures and a dog. The German field gendarmes are: an officer checking the documents, a soldier armed with an МР-40 keeping a close eye on the process, and a soldier with a German Shepherd. The dog comes in two variants: a sitting and a standing position. The civilians are: a man with a suitcase taking the documents out of his pocket, a young lady, and a child holding a teddy bear and looking at the German officer.
A boom barrier with a sign, a sentry box, a Czech Hedgehog, plus accessories and equipment such as arms, bags, suitcases, etc. are also provided.

The Normandy landings (codenamed Operation Neptune) were the landing operations on Tuesday, 6th June 1944 (termed D-Day) of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. The largest seaborne invasion in history, the operation began the liberation of German-occupied northwestern Europe from Nazi control, and contributed to the Allied victory on the Western Front.
Nearly 5,000 landing and assault craft, 289 escort vessels, and 277 minesweepers participated in the Normandy landings. Nearly 160,000 troops crossed the English Channel on D-Day, with 875,000 men disembarking by the end of June. Allied casualties on the first day were at least 10,000, with 4,414 confirmed dead. The Germans lost 1,000 men. Civilian casualties on D-Day and D+1 are estimated at 3,000 people.

The kit represents three German machine-gunners preparing to defend themselves from a Soviet attack during the battles in the Courland Pocket (German: Kurland-Kessel).
In July 1944 the German Army Group North was isolated by the Red Army on the Courland Peninsula. The blockade lasted until the capitulation of Germany in May 1945. The official order to surrender to Soviet command issued on May 8th was delayed so the Axis forces surrendered two days later after the defeat of Nazi Germany. During the battles in the Pocket, German troops suffered casualties of over 150,000 soldiers (killed and wounded). The Red Army losses were over 160,900 men (killed and wounded).
