This kit represents five Soviet drivers busy with their regular maintenance tasks. Three figures are wearing summer uniforms and 'pilotka' caps. One of them is equipped with a tire pump, the other holds a hand crank, and the third one with his sleeves rolled up has a piece of cloth to wipe dust and dirt off the vehicle.
The other two drivers are dressed in cold weather clothes: one soldier in a greatcoat and 'Ushanka' hat pouring water from a pail and the other is dressed in both a 'Telogreika' jacket and 'Ushanka' hat with his hand positioned to hold a steering wheel.

In August 1944 the Polish resistance Home Army (Polish: Armia Krajowa) incited an uprising in order to end German occupation and prevent the consolidation of the Red Army in Warsaw. Aimed at restoration of the Polish government-in-exile, the Uprising was against both Nazi and Soviet troops. However, the Germans managed to halt the Soviet advance to Warsaw and defeat Polish resistance. The Uprising was the largest military campaign taken by any resistance movement in Europe in the period of WWII.
This diorama kit features a corner of a ruined building on a base made from vacuum-formed plastic, as well as a ZiS-2 57mm anti-tank gun and a crew of five Soviet soldiers. The crew includes a crew commander, a loader, a gunner, and two other soldiers carrying ammunition supplies. There are special cavities in the base for the gun wheels. Additional parts for a ZIS-3 76.2mm gun are provided.

In winter during wartime soldiers of the Red Army wore white cloaks over their regular uniforms and ammunition to disguise themselves in the snow. The cloaks were introduced after the Winter War against Finland (1939 - 1940). They were made of coarse calico and included a loose shirt with a cape and wide trousers. On the sides there were slits to access soldiers' equipment.

The German Sturmgeschütz III or StuG III assault gun was the country's 2nd most produced AFV of the WWII period (after the Sd Kfz 251). The StuG was designed to support the advancing infantry using direct fire. Early models were equipped with low-velocity 7.5 cm StuK 37 L/24 guns which were able to blast fortifications but could not penetrate armour well. After the Germans encountered the Soviet KV-1 and T-34 tanks those were substituted with high-velocity 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/43 and later 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48.
Before the production began, five prototypes of the vehicle were produced in 1937 - the experimental '0' series. They used the chassis and running gear of the Panzer III and featured a mild-steel superstructure and Krupp’s 7.5cm StuK 37 L/24 cannon. These AFVs were tested at a number of training facilities and remained in use as training vehicles until 1942.

The Soviet self-propelled gun SU-85 (Samohodnaya ustanovka 85) entered production in 1943 when the Red Army needed a powerful gun to defeat the new German tanks such as the Tiger I and later the Panther. The SU-85 was equipped with a D-5T high-velocity 85mm antitank gun which was capable of penetrating the Tiger I from 1000 meters. 2,050 vehicles had been built until 1944 when the SU-85 was replaced by the SU-100 armed with an even more powerful 100mm D-10S gun. The SU-85 saw service on the Eastern Front until the end of WWII. After the war it was exported to many Soviet states and other countries and remained in service for many years in certain countries such as Vietnam and North Korea.

The Soviet T-54 main battle tank was introduced after the Second World War with the first prototype built in 1945. Production started in 1948 with the T-54-1, and in 1949 the Soviet Union launched the modernised version of the tank, the T-54-2. It had a modified turret inspired by the heavy IS-3 tank, the tracks were expanded to 480mm which helped reduce ground pressure, and the thickness of frontal upper plate was decreased to 100mm. In 1949-1951 the Stalin Ural Tank Factory No. 183 had built over 1200 T-54-2's before the next modernisation phase took place.

The T-54-3 belonged to the T-54 family of Soviet main battle tanks issued right after the end of the Second World War. Having taken parts in many conflicts during the latter half of the 20th century, the T-54 became the leading tank of the Soviet Army, armies of the Warsaw Pact countries and others. The T-54 series was later replaced from Russian service by the T-62, T-64, T-80 and other tanks, however it is still used by the armies of up to 50 other nations.
The T-54-3 was an modified version of the earlier T-54-2 main battle tank. It featured an improved turret without side undercuts and the new TSh-2-22 telescopic gunner's sight. The tank was also equipped with the TDA smoke-generating system.

The production of T-55 started in January 1958 at Uralvagonzavod. Compared to the T-54, this tank had a number of differences, the main ones being NBC protection and a new engine. The T-60 was a Soviet light tank produced in 1941-1942. The production of the T-60 started just after the German invasion of the Soviet Union. This scout tank was armed with a 20 mm TNSh cannon which later proved to be inefficient against new German tanks. In 1942 it was attempted to substitute the cannon with the 37 mm ZIS-19 but this did not happen due to the shortage of 37 mm ammunition. The T-60 was then replaced by the new T-70 light tank.
A total of 6,292 T-60 tanks were built. 1186 of those were produced at Plant No. 264 located near Stalingrad in 1941 and 1942.

The T-60 was a Soviet light tank of WWII aimed to replace the T-38 amphibious tank, outdated by that time. The prototype for the T-60, the T-30B, was built at Moscow Factory No. 37. It had the T-40's chassis and was equipped with heavier armour, yet it was easier to construct overall. The T-30B was commissioned to production under the name T-60 in 1941 and was produced until 1942. During the year of production over six thousand T-60 tanks were issued.
Initially the T-60 was armed with a 20mm TNSh cannon (a tank version of the ShVAK aircraft auto-cannon) which could pierce 15mm armour at the distance of 500m. That range was insufficient against contemporary German tanks so the 37mm ZIS-19 cannon was offered as a replacement. However, it turned out to be impossible to re-arm the tank as 37mm ammunition was scarce in the USSR at that time.
During the war, the Germans managed to capture several T-60 tanks and used them under the name Panzerkampfwagen T-60 743(r).

Based on the earlier T-64 model, the Soviet T-80 is a third-generation main battle tank which entered service in 1976. The T-80 was designed to use a 1,000 horsepower gas turbine, but some later variants have a 750-horsepower diesel engine. The 125mm 2A46 smoothbore gun can fire anti-tank guided missiles and regular ordnance. The production of T-80 for the Russian Army has stopped, but the Omsk plant still produces the tank for export. The T-80 and its variants are in service in Armenia, Belarus, Cyprus, China, Egypt, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Ukraine and Yemen.

On the 19th of February 1943, the II SS Panzer Corps and two panzer armies under the command of Field Marshal Erich von Manstein launched their counterstrike on the Eastern Front, aimed to recapture Kharkov and Belgorod. With extensive air support from Luftflotte 4, in two weeks the German Army defeated the Red Army south of Kharkov and was able to directly engage the city on the 11th of March. After four days of house-to-house fighting, Kharkov was recaptured by the 1st SS Panzer Division on March the 15th. This series of battles is known as the Third Battle of Kharkov, which cost the Red Army over 80,000 casualties. Bevin Alexander, a military historian, called the Third Battle of Kharkov "the last great victory of German arms in the Eastern Front".

The 101st Airborne Division nicknamed the "Screaming Eagles" is a light infantry division of the US Army specialised in air attacks. During WWII the Division took part in several allied military operations including the D-Day landings, Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge.
The initial part of Operation Overlord began on the night of June 6, 1944 with the parachute landings of the 101st Airborne Division in Normandy, known as Mission Albany. Almost 7,000 US paratroopers descended in the northwest of France, however, low visibility, bad weather conditions and German ground fire affected the landing accuracy. The troops were badly scattered over the area, so most of the mission objectives were not attained.
This kit represents three German soldiers captured by two American paratroopers from the 101st Airborne Division.

The D7 was a medium bulldozer deployed by the US Army during WWII. It was produced by Caterpillar Inc., in 1938 and as such was also known as the Caterpillar D7.
During WWII, D7 tractors with blades were often used for earthworks. However, they also served for moving military equipment, when the blades were removed. There were four variants for the blades: a straight blade (S-blade), a universal blade (U-blade), an S-U combination blade and an angled blade. The angled blade was attached to the bulldozer C-frame and had three set positions: right angle, left angle, and centred.
The further development of the series was marked by the appearance of the D7D, D7E, D7F, D7G, D7H and D7R models. The latest version of the tractor was introduced in 2008. It was the D7E bulldozer improved with a 235 hp diesel engine.

AEC Armoured Car was developed by AEC (Associated Equipment Company) as a private venture with an aim to obtain an order from the Army. When the vehicle was shown to officials at the Horse Guards Parade in London in 1941, it made an impression on Winston Churchill and it was decided to put the AEC Car into production. A total of 629 vehicles were produced until 1944, which included three variants - Mk. I, Mk. II and Mk. III.
No other WWII armoured car was armed and armoured as heavily as the AEC Armoured Car. The Mk. III version was equipped with a ROQF 75 mm (2.95 in) main gun, and its frontal armor was 65 mm thick. The vehicle's protection was superior to any other British armoured car at the time.
Most Mk. 3's were used in Western Europe, Northern France and the Low Countries. The AEC Armoured Car remained in service until 1958.

Ardennes is a region in southeast Belgium that extends into Luxembourg, Germany and France. The strategic position of the Ardennes has made it a battleground for European powers for centuries. The region's rugged terrain encompasses rolling valleys, meandering rivers, extensive caves and dense forests crisscrossed with hiking paths. In the 20th century, the Ardennes was widely thought unsuitable for large-scale military operations, due to its difficult terrain and narrow lines of communications. But, in both World War I and World War II, Germany successfully gambled on making a rapid passage through the Ardennes to attack a relatively lightly defended part of France. The Ardennes was the site of three major battles during the world wars – the Battle of the Ardennes in World War I, and the Battle of France and Battle of the Bulge in World War II. Many of the towns of the region were badly damaged during the two world wars.

The Battle of the Bulge (16 December 1944 – 25 January 1945) was a major German offensive campaign launched through the densely forested Ardennes region of Wallonia in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg on the Western Front toward the end of World War II in Europe.
The surprise attack caught the Allied forces completely off guard. The Germans attacked a weakly defended section of the Allied line, taking advantage of heavily overcast weather conditions, which grounded the Allies' overwhelmingly superior air forces. Fierce resistance on the northern shoulder of the offensive around Elsenborn Ridge and in the south around Bastogne blocked German access to key roads to the northwest and west that they counted on for success. Columns of armour and infantry that were supposed to advance along parallel routes found themselves on the same roads. This and terrain that favoured the defenders threw the German advance behind schedule and allowed the Allies to reinforce the thinly placed troops. Improved weather conditions permitted air attacks on German forces and supply lines, which sealed the failure of the offensive. In the wake of the defeat, many experienced German units were left severely depleted of men and equipment, as survivors retreated to the defenses of the Siegfried Line.
The Germans' initial attack included 406,000 men, 1,214 tanks, tank destroyers, and assault guns, and 4,224 artillery pieces. These were reinforced a couple weeks later, bringing the offensive's total strength to around 450,000 troops. Between 67,200 and 125,000 of their men were killed, missing or wounded. For the Americans, with 610,000 involved in the battle, of whom 89,000 were casualties, including up to 19,000 killed, it was the largest and bloodiest battle fought by the United States in World War II.

At the outbreak of WWII, the American Army starting looking for a General Purpose Vehicle. The American Bantam Company came up with a design that passed rigorous testing, but they didn’t have the required capacity for the mass production. As the Government now owned the design, they contracted out the build to Willys Overland and Ford in 1941, and they came up with a slightly altered version in the form of the familiar Willys Jeep.
The American Bantam company did end up producing 2675 Bantam BRC- 40’s, but once the US Army standardised the production of the Ford and Willys version all the Bantams were either issued to Britain or Russia under the Lend Lease scheme. The British used the some of the limited number they received in the Desert Campaign in North Africa.

The Mk. III Valentine was a British infantry tank produced during World War II. The tank had many variants, and over 8000 vehicles of this type were produced. There are several versions of why the tank was called "Valentine", most popular being that the design was presented to the War Office on the 14th of February.
Initially Vickers produced 10 tanks per month, rising to 45 per month, and peaking at 20 per week in 1943. Production of the Valentine and vehicles based on the Valentine stopped in 1945. A total of 2,515 vehicles were produced by Vickers-Armstrong, and 2,135 were manufactured by Metropolitan. The Mk. III Valentine was also built under licence in Canada, with 1,420 vehicles produced. Most of these tanks were sent to the Soviet Union.
The British Army used the Valentine in the North African Campaign. As for the Soviet service, the tank was used from the Battle of Moscow until the end of the war.
