A notable figure on the British side was Major Hesketh Hesketh-Prichard, he noticed that some British units were losing up to 5 men a day to enemy sniper fire. This figure represents a Mountain leader of the Royal Marines or British Special Forces soldier from the Falklands War conflict of 1982.
When Argentina invaded the Falklands in 1982, the Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre (M&AWC) was re-tasked from their training role to a combat role. Patrols were created for 3 Commando Brigade. Following the main amphibious landings on May 21st, 4-man patrols were inserted onto the islands where they carried out reconnaissance missions, adding to the capability that SAS and SBS patrols who already operating provided to the task force. Their operations were not limited to reconnaissance, however. Ten days after the main landings, the M&AWC engaged in a successful direct assault with Argentine Special Forces at Top Malo House.

The light infantry section of German and Austrian alpine troops are called Gebirgsjäger (Jäger - 'hunter'). The Gebirgsjäger, along with German paratroopers, are considered the elite infantry units of the German Army.
During the Second World War, the Gebirgsjäger units were lightly equipped and often used mules as their transport. Mountain infantry men carried fewer automatic weapons than regular infantry and could be identified by the edelweiss insignia on their sleeves and caps. Machine gunners usually had more ammunition than the regular infantry.
The Gebirgsjäger troops took part in a number of WWII battles, including the Gothic Line, the invasion of Crete, the operations in the Caucasus and others.

The Waffen SS had three Panzer Battalions: the 101st, 102nd and 103rd SS Heavy Panzer Battalion. These were renamed in 1944 as SS Heavy Panzer Battalion 501, 502 and 503 respectively (in German Schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 503). Each Battalion employed Tiger I and Tiger II tanks at varying stages of the war, the latter was introduced in 1944.
The kit includes one unpainted resin figure of a German SS Tank Crew soldier and comes with 2 head variants as pictured, one wearing the M1943 field cap and the other an overseas cap. Either were worn by Officers or Enlisted men, with variations to the silver piping on the overseas cap often being the only marked difference. During the Second World War, the 101st Airborne Division was renowned for its role in the D-Day airborne landings on June 6, 1944 in Normandy. The division's objectives included securing the four causeway exits behind Utah Beach, destroying a German coastal artillery battery at Saint-Martin-de-Varreville, capturing a number of buildings, footbridges, destroying highway bridges and more. The 101st Airborne Division managed to secure the beach exits, which was its most important mission, as well as disrupt German communications and establish roadblocks to impede the movement of German reinforcements.

L.R.R.P. or Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol units were first used during the Vietnam war by the 101st Airborne Division in 1965. Various Infantry Divisions followed suit and by 1966 all Infantry Divisions had been authorised to establish their own L.R.R.P. unit. Training to become a L.R.R.P. soldier was strenuous and training staff were often Special Forces trained soldiers that had graduated from the infamous 'Recondo School' in Nha Trang. The USMC also used Force Recon and Battalion Recon teams to conduct long ranged recon operations. USMC Recon teams were normally larger in size and more heavily armed, unlike their Army and SF counterparts, Marine Recon did not commonly use indigenous Montagnards as scouts.
In 1969 all Army 'Lurps' were merged into the 75th Infantry Regiment (Ranger).

US Marine Corps infantrymen and reconnaissance Marines graduated from the US Marine Corps Scout Sniper School are known as Scout Snipers. In order to get this designation, the snipers must be conferred the rank of Lance Corporal, be selected to enter the scout-sniper platoon, and finish a special training course.
The main skills of a USMC Scout Sniper include fieldcraft, marksmanship and map-reading. The primary battlefield role of the sniper is to support the infantry battalion by executing aimed fire on selected targets as well as to perform reconnaissance and surveillance tasks.
The kit is based on a photo of Lance Corporal Dalton Gunderson 3rd Marine Division scanning the area for VC snipers with a Winchester Model 70 during Operation Virginia in 1966. This picture is often misattributed as being Carlos Hathcock, a legendary sniper of the US Marine Corps. During the Vietnam War, Hathcock killed at least 93 Vietnamese soldiers. At that time an officer had to witness the kills to confirm them. That made the confirmation difficult as officers could not be present every time a sniper shot the enemy. Hathcock asserted that he had killed over 300 men in Vietnam.

The SBS, or Special Boat Service is a special forces unit of the Royal Navy. The SBS recruits mainly from the ranks of Royal Marine Commandos. The main tasks of SBS soldiers include intelligence gathering, counter-terrorism operations, disruption of enemy infrastructure, reconnaissance and direct action in foreign territory.
The kit includes parts for the assembly of two SBS soldiers and a Klepper canoe with accessories. The soldiers carry equipment that matches 1980's to 1990's era operations (e.g. Northern Ireland, Gulf War) including a silenced M16A2 assault rifle with a starlight night vision scope and an L96 sniper rifle. This kit is good for customisation and the military Klepper canoe is the only of its kind in 1/35 scale that we know of.

On the 19th of February 1943, the II SS Panzer Corps and two panzer armies under the command of Field Marshal Erich von Manstein launched their counterstrike on the Eastern Front, aimed to recapture Kharkov and Belgorod. With extensive air support from Luftflotte 4, in two weeks the German Army defeated the Red Army south of Kharkov and was able to directly engage the city on the 11th of March. After four days of house-to-house fighting, Kharkov was recaptured by the 1st SS Panzer Division on March the 15th. This series of battles is known as the Third Battle of Kharkov, which cost the Red Army over 80,000 casualties. Bevin Alexander, a military historian, called the Third Battle of Kharkov "the last great victory of German arms in the Eastern Front".

The last major German offensive on the Western Front of WWII, the Battle of the Bulge ('Unternehmen Wacht am Rhein' or the Ardennes Counteroffensive) was launched on the 16th of December 1944 through the dense forest of Ardennes in eastern Belgium. The German plan was to destroy the Allied armies and force them to negotiate a peace treaty in Germany's favour. Germany would then be able to fully concentrate their efforts on the Eastern Front.
The German Army planned this offensive with utmost secrecy, and on 16 December 1944 the surprise attack caught the Allies completely off guard. American forces incurred their highest casualties of any operation during WWII. However fierce resistance on the Elsenborn Ridge and around Bastogne impeded the German advance and allowed the Allies to reinforce their troops. Subsequent Allied air attacks led to the failure of the offensive. The Battle of the Bulge was the second bloodiest battle in American history.

During WWII, Germany raised a number of mountain infantry units - Gebirgsjäger. These divisions usually carried fewer automatic weapons than their regular infantry counterparts, although the MG 34 or MG 42 machine gunners had more ammunition compared to regular infantry. Gebirgsjäger wore edelweiss insignia on their sleeves and caps.
German Mountain Divisions took part in many battles over the course of WWII. In 1942, they participated in the offensive in the Caucasus area on the Eastern Front, named Operation Edelweiss. The German plan was to gain control over the Caucasus and to capture the oil fields in Azerbaijan. In August-September 1942, Wehrmacht took the cities of Stavropol, Maykop, Krasnodar, Mozdok and Novorossiysk. On the 21st of August, the 1st Mountain Division planted the flag of Nazi Germany on the summit of Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in the Caucasus Mountains and in Europe.

An active infrared device codenamed the Vampir (ZG 1229) was developed for the Wehrmacht for use on rifles and machine guns at night time. The Wehrmacht soldiers started to use Vampir gear at the final stages of WWII. Soldiers who carried the Vampir were known as Nachtjäger - night hunters. Along with the device, they also carried a 13.5 kilogram wooden cased battery for the light, and another battery inside a gas mask container to power the image converter. The sensor operated in the upper infrared spectrum and therefore was not sensitive to body heat.

They were usually armed with flame throwers, machine guns and heavy explosives. Sturmpioniere were trained in assault, demolition including destroying enemy bunkers, hand-to-hand combat, and using smoke candles, grenades and explosives.
Sturmpionier units played an important role in the success of the crossing of the Meuse river in May 1940, which enabled Germany to capture Sedan and effectively led to the defeat of France in June 1940.

The Italian Paratroopers Division "Nembo" was officially formed in November 1942. Following the armistice of September 1943 which stipulated the surrender of Italy to the Allies, violent conflicts arose in the division with some units wishing to comply with the directives of the Italian Government and others refusing to accept the change of alliances. As a result some of the "Nembo" division units became part of the Italian Co-belligerent Army and fought alongside the Allies for the liberation of Italy, while others remained on the German side. The latter participated in the German counterattack at Anzio since February 1944. The Battle of Anzio was part of the Italian Campaign of WWII which started with Operation Shingle, the Allied amphibious landing on the 22nd of January 1944, and ended in June 1944 with the capture of Rome.

In 1961-1962 the US Army began to establish guerrilla and counter-guerrilla units from the Navy's Underwater Demolition Teams. These units were able to operate from sea, air and land. The first two teams of US Navy SEALs (Sea, Air, and Land Teams) were formed in January 1962. They were trained in unconventional areas such as high-altitude parachuting, hand-to-hand combat, demolitions, and foreign languages. Their mission was to conduct clandestine operations and counter guerilla warfare in maritime and riverine environments.
The first SEALs were deployed to South Vietnam (in and around Da Nang) in 1962. Initially their purpose was to train the commandos of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam in guerrilla/anti-guerrilla tactics, combat diving and demolitions. Later in the war, the SEALs were positioned in the Rung Sat Special Zone and the Mekong Delta, disrupting the enemy supply and troop movements and fulfilling riverine operations. Eventually there were 8 SEAL platoons in Vietnam on a continuing basis.
By 1970, the US began to remove its presence from the Vietnam War, returning the responsibility of defense back to South Vietnam. The last SEAL platoon left the country in 1971 and the last SEAL advisor left in 1973. In April 1975 South Vietnam fell to the communist forces.

The Battle of Normandy, codenamed Operation Overlord, was launched by the Allied troops on the 6th of June, 1944. The operation began with the Normandy landings, the largest seaborne invasion in history, when nearly 160,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel. On the 15th of August the Allies launched Operation Dragoon, the invasion of southern France, and the Liberation of Paris followed on August 25th.
This kit can be used for a vignette or a diorama set in France, 1944. Alternatively, figures can be placed in other settings of WWII Europe.

The Maquis was a French guerrilla movement fighting on the side of French Resistance during the Vichy regime in occupied France. It began out of small rural bands and consisted of men who were hiding in the mountainous regions of the South of France in order to avoid deportation to German labour camps. Later the bands were organised into larger guerrilla groups. The word "Maquis" can be translated as "thicket" or a "bush". The term is used to name a kind of terrain in the Mediterranean region densely covered by evergreen shrubs.

Long lines of German soldiers marching to Russia as Soviet prisoners were common for that period. The kit represents five German prisoners of war guided by a Russian infantryman. The German figures are dressed in typical German Filed Grey uniforms. Two of them are wounded having bandages around the injured areas (the head and the arm). The Russian soldier is carrying a knapsack on his back and a bayonet rifle in his arms. He also is wearing a standard Soviet infantry uniform.
