Miniart 1:35 - SU-85 Mod. 1944 (Early Production) with Interior - Plastic Model Kit #35204
The SU-85 was a Soviet self-propelled anti-tank gun produced in mid-1943 for fighting against the new and more advanced German Tiger and Panther tanks. The newer German armour was too thick to be penetrated by the older Soviet tanks such as the T-34 and KV-1. The number "85" stands for the bore of its armament, 85 mm D-5S gun, which was modified from the 85 mm anti-aircraft gun by Fyodor Petrov and was strong enough to penetrate the Tiger I from 1000 m. The advantages of the SU-85 also included excellent mobility and a standard commander's cupola that ensured good visibility. Though successfully used in combat until the end of the war, the SU-85 was replaced by the SU-100 which proved to be more effective.
The kit contains 934 parts.

Master Box 1:35 German Motorcycle & Sidecar WWII - Plastic Figure Model Kit #3528
The kit represents the German BMW R75 motorcycle with a sidecar which can be mounted with either an MG 34 or an MG 42 machine gun. The development of the R75 started in 1938 following a request from the German Army. Even today a well-restored vehicle can perform well both on and off-road.
The R75 was deployed by German troops in the USSR and Northern Africa during WWII. It remained in production until 1944 when the Eisenach factory was bombed by the Allied forces. The success of the motorcycle during the war inspired the US military who asked Harley-Davidson to create a similar vehicle for the US Army. So the Harley-Davidson XA was produced, a close copy of the R-75.

Master Box 1:35 Japanese Imperial Marines, Tarawa, November 1943 (Bloody Atoll Series, Kit No 1) - Plastic Figure Model Kit #3542
The Battle of Tarawa began at the Tarawa Atoll in the Gilbert Islands on November 20th, 1943 and lasted three days. It was the first US assault in the Pacific during WWII. It was also the first time in the Asia-Pacific War when American troops faced fierce Japanese resistance. This time Japanese soldiers were well-prepared and fought to the last man. Over 6,000 Japanese, Koreans, and Americans died on the battlefield at the Atoll.
The Japanese Marines were called the Special Naval Landing Forces (SNLF) and belonged to the IJN Land Forces (IJN - the Imperial Japanese Navy). Formed in the late 1920's, the SNLF initially consisted of sailors with basic infantry skills, not Marines. However, later the training course was improved and the sailors armed with better equipment for maritime operations. When WWII began, there were a total of 16 SNLF units, but 5 more units were formed during the war.
On board the Japanese Imperial Marines wore standard IJN blue or white uniforms. On land the uniform was similar to that of the Imperial Japanese Army (a green tunic with one or two breasted pockets and a stand and fall collar, as well as a white trimmed T-shirt and green long trousers). Also, the Marines wore red thin belts called "Senninbari". Senninbari was believed to bring good luck and protect its wearer from bullets.
About 2,500 men of the 7th Sasebo SNLF took part in the Battle of Tarawa. Together with 2,000 base personnel they killed over 3,000 US Marines.
The kit represents three Japanese Marines armed with 6.5 mm Meiji type 38 rifles and one Japanese marine officer with a sword, all running to attack the enemy. One of the marines has been hit by enemy fire.
The kit Includes a sheet of decals and parts for the assembly of four figures, weapon and equipment. Glue and paint are not included.

Division Miniatures 1:35 US Marine Sniper (Vietnam) - Resin Figure #35-046
US Marine Corps infantrymen and reconnaissance Marines graduated from the US Marine Corps Scout Sniper School are known as Scout Snipers. In order to get this designation, the snipers must be conferred the rank of Lance Corporal, be selected to enter the scout-sniper platoon, and finish a special training course.
The main skills of a USMC Scout Sniper include fieldcraft, marksmanship and map-reading. The primary battlefield role of the sniper is to support the infantry battalion by executing aimed fire on selected targets as well as to perform reconnaissance and surveillance tasks.
The kit is based on a photo of Lance Corporal Dalton Gunderson 3rd Marine Division scanning the area for VC snipers with a Winchester Model 70 during Operation Virginia in 1966. This picture is often misattributed as being Carlos Hathcock, a legendary sniper of the US Marine Corps. During the Vietnam War, Hathcock killed at least 93 Vietnamese soldiers. At that time an officer had to witness the kills to confirm them. That made the confirmation difficult as officers could not be present every time a sniper shot the enemy. Hathcock asserted that he had killed over 300 men in Vietnam.
The kit includes one unpainted resin figure of an American USMC sniper and a Winchester Model 70 sporting rifle (unofficially issued in Vietnam and used by Hathcock and others during his first tour).

Academy 1:35 - M4A3 76mm US Army "Battle of the Bulge" - Plastic Figure Model Kit #13500
The Medium Tank M4 Sherman was commonly used by the United States and other Western Allies during WWII. The tank was produced in large numbers, with thousands distributed through the Lend-Lease program to the British Commonwealth and Soviet Union. The British called the M4 'Sherman' after the American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman.
During the Second World War, about 19,247 Sherman tanks were issued to the US Army and about 1,114 to the US Marine Corps. Moreover, the U.S. supplied 17,184 tanks to Great Britain, some of which went to the Canadians and the Free Poles. The Soviet Union received 4,102 vehicles and an estimated 812 were transferred to China. These tanks were distributed to the respective countries' allied nations.
The M4A3 was a sub-type of the Sherman tank. It featured a welded hull and was powered by a Ford GAA engine. Its armament consisted of a 76mm cannon and a 12.7mm machine gun. This variant was mainly deployed by the US Army with only a few units sent to France and Nicaragua. A number of these tanks took part at the Battle of Bulge in December 1944.

In the beginning of 1943, Allied forces were preparing for severe resistance in the planned re-taking of Europe, with the Germans defending from strong fortified positions. As a result, a new class of vehicle was required and entered into development and production, they were called assault tanks. The concept prioritised maximum armour protection over mobility. 25 were ordered for production without prototypes being required but finally the order was reduced to 6 after the war had ended. This design was commissioned in 1943 and 18 variants were prepared by Nuffield Mechanisations and Aero Limited, progressively larger and heavier in concept they were aiming to be ready for the battlefield in September 1945.
Given the structure of the Tortoise it is technically a Self-propelled gun not a tank and had a crew of 7 - a commander, driver, and gunner, with two loaders for the 32-pounder gun and two machine gunners.
The Meng Model British A39 Tortoise Heavy Assault Tank is 293mm long and 111mm wide. The fixed casemate superstructure and weld seams of the fighting compartment make the kit nicely realistic. The 94mm long barrel gun can freely turn and the mantlet is accurate. The travel lock can lock the gun and the machine gun in the front ball mount can freely rotate. Hatches can be open or closed. The four bogies on either side each with two wheels and transverse torsion bar suspension system are faithfully reproduced.

Master Box 1:35 British and German soldiers, Somme Battle, 1916 - Plastic Figure Model Kit #35158
In July 1916 the allied forces of the British and French armies fought a battle with German troops which lasted almost four months. The offensive took place on both sides of the River Somme in France and was the largest battle of WWI in the Western Theatre. Both British and French forces lost over 600 thousand soldiers. The German casualties were nearly the same. On the whole, more than one million men were injured or killed which makes the Battle of the Somme the most murderous battle of all time. In July 1916 the allied forces of the British and French armies fought a battle with German troops which lasted almost four months. The offensive took place on both sides of the River Somme in France and was the largest battle of WWI in the Western Theatre. Both British and French forces lost over 600 thousand soldiers. German casualties were nearly the same. On the whole, more than one million men were injured or killed which makes the Battle of the Somme the most murderous battle of all time. It was also the battle where tanks were first used.
This model kit was issued in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the First World War (1914-1918). It represents British infantrymen preparing for another assault on the Somme battlefield. Includes parts for the assembly of five figures. Glue and paint are not included.

Tamiya Extra Thin Cement 40ml - 87038
The Tamiya Extra Thin Cement 40ml is generally known as the best adhesive to glue together models that use polystyrene plastic (most model kits). The extra thin formula allows the modeller to glue together small pieces that require pin point accuracy and finesse using the fine brush included - instead of having the glue splashing about in unwanted areas causing damage.

Meng Model 1:35 - German Main Battle Tank Leopard 1 A3/A4 - Plastic model kit #TS-007
The Leopard 1 is a main battle tank which was developed in West Germany and entered production in 1965. The project was commissioned by the Bundeswehr in order to replace the M47 and M48 Patton tanks, already outdated by that time. The project had started as a collaborative program between West Germany, France and Italy, however the partnership ended when the first prototypes were built - Italy and France decided to focus on their own technologies. The German model was designed by Porsche. In total, over 4,000 Leopard battle tanks have been produced, excluding prototypes and anti-aircraft vehicles.
By 1980, several modifications of the Leopard 1 had been issued including the Leopard 1A3 and the Leopard 1A4. The 1A3 version featured a welded turret which was much heavier than the turrets of its predecessors and also had better armour with a wedge-type gun mantlet. The commander's compartment was equipped with an improved TRP 2A independent sight. The 1A4 model was upgraded with a new computerised fire control system and a new sighting system, but in general it was quite similar to the Leopard 1A3.
Exported worldwide, the Leopard series saw action during the Bosnian War, the Kurdish–Turkish conflict and the War in Afghanistan. It still remains in use in a number of countries such as Brazil, Chile, Greece and Turkey.
Kit details:
- Periscopes and lights with clear parts
